The Power of Letting Go

We believe that we are in control of our lives. We also seem to believe that willpower is the power that's going to get us ahead accomplishing what we desire. The power of the will can work but it's only temporary. One of the things that we have forgotten is that we are no longer the clean slates of children. Children don't hold grudges, or resentment, or prejudices, or animosity until they learn this from adults.

As we hold on to things such as anger, fear, judgement, resentment, and negative thoughts we bring in wrong thought. Each of our experiences are stored in our bodies and subconscious and just like the fruit you left in the refrigerator and forgot to eat, these things will become bacteria infested and begin to rot.

Somewhere somehow your body is harboring something that can become an affliction. If we don't pay attention to the signs our body is sending and dispose of the issues behind it the problem will worsen. The body will begin to show or has been showing signs in the form of neck pain, constant fatigue, irritability, unfounded fears, outbursts of anger, constant frustration, daily headaches, and more. Just like you must eventually clean our your refrigerator of the old unused items you must look deep inside and begin to clean out the old negative, patterns, and attitudes.

During one of my recent Pranic Healing classes the students were involved in a session working on each other. The first group was moving well through the exercise and the ones getting worked on were very receptive. Then came the second group. It seemed that each person getting worked on in this group was holding on as tightly as possible to their issue. You could see it in their faces and their bodies as their shoulders were stiff. I brought it up that this group was the "learning to let go group" which got a laugh. This group seemed to be tense about letting go of old patterns and when I got them to acknowledge it they were much more at ease.

This fear of letting go causes our bodies a great deal of unnecessary pain and discomfort. I find that among my clients and students the fear of letting go is greater than the desire to get better, though they exclaim otherwise. Work to identify the fear and release it. Most of these fears come from holding on to the issue for so long we're afraid we won't know how to live without it. Often we don't even know that we have this fear.

We are given the gift of a new day, which is our opportunity to start with the idea of letting go of what we no longer need. Before jumping out of bed to allow yourself to reflect on just one thing or pattern that you want to change and say "I release _____ to the universe and allow only good to come to me and good to go from me".

If you are only half sincere about your wish to let this issue go that's ok. Don't give up just because it didn't seem to work. Leave your desire to control out of the picture. Release is not about control, release is about "LETTING GO". Just like everything else in your life sometimes you need to keep practicing until it really sticks in the subconscious and becomes a natural occurrence.
